In these turbulent times with school shootings, political shooting, and evil on every corner, it is hard to see the love of God. It's even harder to show the love of God to others right now.
I imagine if God were to ask you to show His love to some random stranger, you maybe tempted to side-eye God and ask the question, "are you serious Lord?" When He asked me to pray for a person who was lying on me and mistreating my children, I said "ARE YOU SERIOUS?" He said nothing else. He just kept asking me the same question over and over. Eventually, I told our Father in heaven that I would try but I would not make any promises. But you know what, as I reluctantly prayed for the person, it became easier each time I prayed. Now if He would ask me the same question with the same circumstances, I would be more than willing to obey because I have experience God's faithfulness. I am a witness of how He took some of my most painful life choices and turned it for my good. Our God is able to heal hearts, soul wounds and soothe emotions. What we must always remember is that we to need others to shower God's love on us when we are not being so godly.
Talk is cheap. Can we as followers of Christ really put into practice to love God's people like Christ loves us? We sure can. It may take constant intentional practice but we will get better at it as we look to our Savior for inspiration and guidance .
Heavenly Father, we worship you for who you are. We praise you for your love that you shower upon us daily. Thank you for never giving up on us. Father, please forgive our ignorance in thinking that we know what is best for us. Remind us to forgive each other and to always show others your love. Finally, grant us wisdom and understanding so that we may willingly live our lives according to your plans and purposes. In Jesus Name, Amen.
